PCI Council Schedules Community Meeting in Asia.

On March 21, 2013, the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Council announced that the first PCI Community Meeting to be held in the Asia-Pacific region will be held on November 20, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.  Previous PCI Community Meetings have all been held in North America or Europe.  The meeting will be open for attendance by the PCI community, including hoteliers and the entire hospitality industry.

PCI SSC European Director Jeremy King remarked that, “New technologies such as mobile and cloud computing are quickly changing the way we do business and accept payments. And those in Asia-Pacific are at the forefront of these changes.”  The announcement demonstrates the need for PCI compliance for payment card security on a global level, including PCI training for employees worldwide.

This is especially so in the hotel industry, which is undergoing rapid growth in the Asia-Pacific region.  PCI compliance training should be an integral part of any hotel compliance program.  Among the most effective PCI training programs for hotels are those that include custom learning solutions, such as PCI compliance training modules and similar training on best practices for using hospitality technology.

The November meeting will also include an unveiling of the next version of the PCI Standards will be published, which could impact existing PCI compliance programs.
