VENZA serves up Brew-B-Que 2: Pints for Pets to benefit Atlanta Humane Society

(Atlanta, GA – December 1st, 2014) History is not always kind to sequels. However, Brew-B-Que 2: Pints for Pets, VENZA’s 7th Annual Charity Event and a sequel to last year’s smashing success, equaled its predecessor in both attendees and funds raised. Plus, Brew-B-Que 2 had something extra special that which has a value difficult to measure: Waggily Tails.

Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) was chosen as this year’s beneficiary by way of an online polling campaign launched from VENZA’S social media outlets such as Facebook and LinkedIn. While the competition was tight, animal welfare won the contest and AHS was given the nod because of its proven track record for helping the city’s homeless, abused, and neglected animals.

Attendees even got a chance to meet some of the four-legged friends that directly benefit from AHS’s operations. VENZA COO, Daniel Johnson, said, “while it’s always great to hear about what organizations do at these events, seeing those happy faces and wagging tails really makes an impact.”

When choosing to support an organization fighting crime in their backyards of Atlanta, GA, VENZA chose to keep the venue, band and cuisine local as well. The event took place at Monday Night Brewing, one of Atlanta’s hottest craft breweries that proudly proclaims “Weekends are Overrated”. Guests sampled their choice of beers such as the Drafty Kilt, the Blind Pirate, the Fu Manbrew, as well as many others. The delicious BBQ was donated and catered by Atlanta’s very own Fox Bro.’s BBQ. This year’s musical contribution was a blues influenced double bill; the Tip Jar Miners kicked the night off and got the crowd warmed up for The Breeze Kings who did, indeed, royally rock.

As with years past, VENZA has a long list of people and organizations to thank for making this year’s event happen. Thanks go out to Genesee General, Cedexis, SunTrust, HeritageBank, Hospitality Upgrade Magazine, Arnall Golden Gregory LLP, Fox Bro.’s BBQ, Small Business Access Partners (SBAP), White Dog Studios, Jill Perry Voiceovers, and HER Consulting.

Through sponsorships, personal donations and participation in the “Giving Tree” raffle, Brew-B-Que 2: Pints for Pets raised $12,634.29.

About Atlanta Humane Society

Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit (IRS Tax ID# 58-0685900) and the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873 following a visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The animal charity was originally chartered to protect women, children, and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. AHS, now a widely recognized pet adoption center, clinic, and educational program provider, was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its present location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930s.

It is our mission to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.

Atlanta Humane Society places approximately 8,000 animals into forever homes each year. AHS is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for the animals once they are in our care. We only humanely euthanize those animals suffering from significant medical issues or that pose behavior concerns. We are proud to be a part of the solution to ending pet homelessness and overpopulation in the Southeast United States.
