VENZA Hires Daniel Santiago to Lead Pen Testing Effort

VENZA, the leading provider of data protection and regulatory compliance solutions for the hospitality industry, today announced that it has hired Daniel Santiago as its Vulnerability Management Lead. In this role, Santiago will work with VENZA’s Security Team to execute the company’s VENZA Pen Testing product.

Announced in June 2023, VENZA now offers pen testing as a stand-alone product offering. Pen testing simulates cyberattacks against client computer systems to identify and attempt to exploit vulnerabilities. By using the tactics of cybercriminals, VENZA’s in-house “white hat” hackers are able to comprehensively assess the cybersecurity posture of its clients to broadly improve their defenses. Through pen testing, VENZA’s clients can proactively patch vulnerabilities, comply with regulatory requirements, and optimize security spending by targeting it toward high-impact, high-return areas.

Santiago joins VENZA with a wealth of prior pen testing experience. For over six years, he served as a Penetration Tester and Cyber Security Research Specialist and IT Forensic Examiner. Prior to that, Santiago worked as a System Administrator for the Computer Science Department at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Cyber Security from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and is CompTIA Security+ certified.

“We’re thrilled to add a cybersecurity expert of Daniel’s caliber to our staff,” said Charles Smart, Security Team Manager at VENZA. “Based on our experience, we know that it is not enough to simply identify vulnerabilities—we must also exploit them to see how deep they go. With VENZA Pen Testing, we’re bringing our vulnerability management efforts to a new scale.”

“Hiring Daniel provides VENZA with a proven, experienced leader in the field of pen testing,” he added. “His deep knowledge of networking and computer systems will be an incredible resource for our company and all of our clients.”

“I am excited for the opportunity to join VENZA’s Security Team and to contribute to building their new product line,” said Daniel Santiago. “Pen testing is an invaluable tool for building a strong cyber defense and I look forward to leading our efforts to develop and deploy a world-class product here at VENZA.”

VENZA’s Security Team provides key services in support of the company’s best-in-class Everest™ and Denali™ programs. Among them are PCI DSS Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) preparation, Report on Compliance (ROC) preparation, external and internal vulnerability scanning, Pen Testing, GAP Assessment, and the provision of Policy Templates.
